Exciting New Partnership Agreed between Councils and Vineyard

Published Wednesday, 14th October 2015

Melton Vineyard Church is pleased to announce that they are to join up in an exciting new partnership with Melton Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council.

The partnership means that they will be co-locating their services at the Cove Children’s and Community Centre, Sysonby Street, Melton Mowbray.

All three organisations share a common desire to deliver services within the community and improve outcomes for people. This new partnership will bring added value to community and children’s services in Melton.

Melton Borough Council Deputy Leader Cllr Pam Posnett stated ‘We are really excited that a strong local voluntary group whom the Council has worked with for many years is expanding their support to people in our community who need help. This new approach will reduce duplication and increase efficiencies for the Council in relation to use of our resources’.

The Melton Vineyard started working more closely with the community over 4 years ago by initiating the Storehouse Project at The Fox, Leicester Street, Melton Mowbray which provides support to people who need help with food, emergency clothing and advice. This project is now supported by many other churches in the Borough, as well as local organisations, businesses and individuals, and will continue to operate from the Fox.

The children’s centre offers one-to-one and group support to families with pre-school children. This includes helping parents to understand what children need growing up and offering extra help when times are tough.

By moving other provision from the Source in King Street to this new base and contributing to the costs of the centre, the Vineyard plan to offer services such as parenting support, money advice and a listening ear service. This will complement the work of Melton Borough Council in relation to the expansion of Me & My Learning into the wider community and Leicestershire County Council in relation to Children’s Centre and Early Help services.

Neal Swettenham – Senior Pastor, Melton Vineyard stated ‘We are delighted to have the opportunity to work more closely with both Councils in this way. Part of our vision has always been to serve the local community, as well as to be a culturally diverse church where people of all ages and backgrounds can find a place to belong and a space to grow’.
