Mayor’s Carols by Candlelight Service

Published Tuesday, 8th December 2015

The Mayor’s annual Carols by Candlelight Service will be taking place on Thursday 10 December 2015 at 6.30pm in St. Mary’s Parish Church, Melton Mowbray.

Children from Primary Schools across the Borough - Brownlow, Long Clawson, Frisby and Waltham -  will be performing a selection of carols and seasonal music all in the beautiful candlelit church.   A reading will be given by Daniel Hand, a year 7 student from Long Field Academy. The congregation will also enjoy music from the Church Choir.

The service will be led by the Reverend Kevin Ashby with support from the Church’s Musical Director, Mr James Gutteridge.

The Mayor, Councillor Jeanne Douglas, said:  “I’m so pleased that schools from both the town and villages are taking part in this special service and that local groups and organisations will be represented in the congregation – it is a real community event and I’m very grateful to all those who have helped towards making this such a delightful occasion in my Mayoral year.”
