The Queen's 90th Birthday BeaconsPublished Wednesday, 20th January 2016
The Queen's 90th Birthday Beacons - Her Majesty The Queen is celebrating her 90th Birthday on 21st April 2016
To mark this occasion community groups are invited to take part in the lighting of birthday beacons. There has been a tradition of marking Royal jubilees, weddings, coronations and special birthdays for hundreds of years, in this way.
Beacons will be lit all over the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories. Community groups and local parish or town councils are encouraged to get involved.
If you would like to get involved please Download 'The Guide to Taking Part' to register your involvement and gain all the information required to participate in the event.
Please contact Lisa Brown, Town Centre Manager on 01664 502335 (or Email) to ensure you are included on all future publicity on the Borough's Beacons.
You will need to plan to light your Beacon early evening on the 21st April 2016 - exact lighting time will be confirmed in March 2016. The Queen has graciously agreed to light the 'Principle Beacon' that night.
