Melton Borough Council’s innovative approach recognised.

The achievements of Melton Borough Council’s innovative Me and My Learning programme were recognised recently at the prestigious iESE Celebrating Public Sector Excellence national awards event.

The Me and My Learning programme was successful in two categories: achieving a Silver Award in the Innovation category and a Bronze award in the Transforming Services category.

Me and My Learning, based at Phoenix House, helps people to live more independently and has been successful in moving over 100 people into work since starting in 2014.

Me and My Learning brings together a wide range of partner organisations under a single delivery “umbrella”.  This means they are able to work together to help people.

Leader of Melton Borough Council, Cllr Byron Rhodes said “this recognition underlines our innovative approach and reflects the significant efforts of our staff and partners in helping change people’s lives.”

Notes for Editors:

Me and My Learning is an innovative approach that brings partner organisations together under a single delivery “umbrella”.  It transforms the way in which services are provided, particularly to people who face multiple barriers.  Using a detailed assessment of needs and an agreed individual journey it provides holistic and co-ordinated support to enable individuals to become digitally, financially and socially independent.  In its first year’s results the Me and My Learning programme has not only proven that it can provide the support to give this independence but that it can support participants to move into sustainable employment.
