Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations & Big LunchPublished Tuesday, 7th June 2016
Melton's Play Close will be holding its own street party to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday with a Big Lunch event on Sunday 12th June.
The Queen turned 90 on April 21, but she also has an official birthday in June - this year it falls on Saturday, June 11.
A traditional church service, the annual birthday parade and a mass street party for 10,000 people will all celebrate the milestone birthday of Britain's longest reigning sovereign.
You’ll also be able to raise a late-toast to Her Majesty too, as an extension of pub opening hours on Friday and Saturday evening has been arranged to help us all get into the party spirit.
Here’s everything you need to know about the weekend's celebrations in London:
Friday 10th June: Televised service at St Paul's Cathedral
Saturday 11th June: Trooping of the Colour & carriage procession including a RAF Flypast
Sunday 12th June: Giant Street Party on The Mall which will be shown on big screens in Green Park and St James Park as well as being broadcast from the BBC
Melton's Play Close will be joining in with the celebrations on The Mall and hosting its own 'Party in the Park'. 103 The Eye will be hosting the celebrations which will kick off at 10.00am with an open air service with Reverend Kevin Ashby. There will be live music from the Rutland Concert Bank and Nottingham Ukulele, vintage tea refreshments from Miss B's Tearooms, loads of free Royal themed activities for children and local ales from Belvoir Brewery. Bring along your own picnic or choose from the homemade refreshments on site.
Starts at 10.00am and finishes at 4.00pm.
Play Close Park has been kindly offered as a venue for this event by the Melton Mowbray Town Estate
