The Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough of Melton, Councillor David Wright and Mrs Maureen Wright will be attending the Melton Borough Civic Service at St. Mary the Virgin’s Church, Bottesford

The Mayor said:

“The Church and the Council share many of the same objectives in our community roles, this is a service about the dedication of the Mayor to serve the people of the Borough of Melton. I extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join us for this special morning service.”

This annual service is symbolic of that common purpose and will be led by the Reverend David Payne.

A retiring collection will be divided between St Mary the Virgin’s Church and the Mayor’s chosen charities – The Melton & District Branch of the Friends of Rainbows, East Midlands Children's Hospice; and Melton Community First Responders.

Everyone is welcome.

Guests include the High Sheriff of Leicestershire, the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, and other dignitaries from Councils across Leicestershire and neighbouring authorities. Representatives from other public sector, charity and voluntary organisations that serve Melton Mowbray and the wider rural communities have been invited   A reception will be held immediately afterwards in the church.
