Melton Public Conveniences

Published Monday, 20th February 2017

On the 8th February Full Council approved funding of £340,000 to replace the public conveniences at Wilton Road and St Marys Way, having already made the decision to close the Park Lane toilet site.

Whilst the external appearance of the toilets will be traditional in order to blend in with the street scene, they will be well appointed and modern internally.

The new toilets will be unisex ‘pay per use’ toilets and will be designed to be more user friendly for customers with a disability.

Design work is currently under way, and the plan is to have both operational by March 2018.

The Council is going to apply for residential planning consent for redevelopment of the former Park Lane toilets into two units, both two bedroom flats. The Council will then market the toilets with the benefit of planning permission and this is expected to be of interest to local house builders and developers.
