Great British Spring Clean – March 3-5 2017Published Thursday, 23rd February 2017
We are backing a campaign in partnership with Keep Britain Tidy Group; an environmental group supported by the Government that has been working & campaigning to keep our country clean for nearly 60yrs
The national campaign ‘The Great British Spring Clean’ will roll out for the first time in 2017, with a view to it becoming an annual event helping to bring people together and clean up the country.
As part of its support for the countries biggest-ever community clear up the Council is seeking volunteers to take part in the event. The council will be encouraging, supporting groups and individuals who want to ‘do their bit’ to help clear up the litter that blights our streets, parks and green open spaces. Leader of the council, Pam Posnett said: ‘The Great British Spring Clean is about everyone working together to clean up the litter that can have an adverse effect on our landscape and communities, and we’re delighted to be taking part and bringing people together to tackle an issue that many people care passionately about.’
Scout Groups and village community groups have already pledged their support, but this new campaign is keen to engage with anyone who is interested in taking part. If you or your organisation are interested just email GBSC17@melton.gov.uk to confirm you would like to take join in. All equipment will be provided, however there is a limited amount available, so please register as early as you can.
