New Chief Executive at Melton Borough Council

Edd de Coverly has been appointed as Melton Borough Council’s new Chief Executive.

He is due to start on 28th August, taking over from Lynn Aisbett who has served as Melton’s Chief Executive for 13 years.

Starting his career in retail and marketing, Edd joins Melton from Ashfield District Council where he has been since 2007. Whilst at Ashfield, Edd’s initial post was Head of Neighbourhood Services. He then progressed to Service Director – Environment in 2011 and then on to Service Director for Place and Communities in 2016. Over the last two years Edd has been developing the Council’s commercial aspirations whilst raising the profile of the district and encouraging inward investment in the area. His more recent achievements have included the launch of the multi agency integrated services hub  which supports community safety and wider quality of life improvements.

The Council Leader, Joe Orson, has made the following comments regarding Edd’s appointment as Chief Executive:-

 “The appointment of a new Chief Executive was a critical decision for the Council and following a thorough and challenging recruitment process, Edd proved himself to be the ideal candidate among a high calibre group.  I am pleased that Edd has accepted the post, his local government and private sector experience skills and knowledge will be invaluable in helping us make a major shift in how we shape the future of our Borough.  The is the start of a new journey for Melton and I am looking forward to working with Edd and welcoming him to Melton Borough Council.”

Edd de Coverly commented:

“It’s a great privilege for me to join Melton Borough Council as their new Chief Executive. I have been very impressed with what has been achieved over recent years and I look forward to building on that legacy; working alongside Elected Members, my new colleagues, partner agencies and our communities. 

Local government undoubtedly faces a difficult financial challenge but my colleagues and I will do all we can to ensure the stability of the Council and that we deliver excellent and responsive services to our residents and customers.

I am looking forward to working with the Leader and Council on a bold and exciting agenda which will aim to increase prosperity, enhance local infrastructure and deliver better quality of life for our residents.”
