Minister Visits Melton

Published Thursday, 7th November 2013

Esther McVey MP Minister of State for Employment visited Melton Mowbray on 6 November 2013 to commemorate the co-location of Jobcentre Plus at the multi-agency Parkside offices.

The first co-location of its type nationally with such a wide range of other partners.

The Minister officially opened the Jobcentre Plus office at Parkside and met front line staff and customers who have already benefited from the co-location arrangements.

Following the tour of the Parkside Offices the Minister heard about the proposed Skills and Learning Centre at Phoenix House on Nottingham Road before returning to London.

Cllr Rhodes, Leader of Melton Borough Council said “We are delighted to welcome Esther McVey to Melton to see first hand the success of partner organisations working together for the benefit of the people of Melton.  The co-location of staff from different agencies at Parkside enables a better more joined up service for people in our Community.”

Esther McVey, Minister for Employment said:  ‘I am delighted to be here today to open a new service, which will provide much needed co-ordinated support for claimants in Melton Mowbray.

I know staff in the local Jobcentre and Melton Mowbray Council have worked very closely to establish, this new one stop shop, where claimants can access assistance, whether that's help in looking for work or advice on Housing Benefits.

I am sure this will be a huge success and one which will draw the attention of councils and Jobcentre from other towns and cities."
