Mayor extends invite to Civic Sunday service

The Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough of Melton, Councillor Tejpal Singh Bains and his mother, Mrs Rajbinder Bains will attend the Melton Borough Civic Service on Sunday 4 March 2018.

The annual Civic Service, held at St Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray is one of the traditional engagements in the Mayor's calendar celebrating community spirit and public service.  

The Mayor said:

“The Church and the Council share similar  aims  in our community roles, and this service is about the commitment of the Mayor, Councillors, and the Council  to serve the people of the Borough of Melton. It is also about service to the community in a wider sense.  I extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join us for this special afternoon service.”

The service will be led by the Reverend Kevin Ashby.

A retiring collection will be divided between St Mary Church and the Mayor’s chosen charities – LOROS, and the East Midlands Branch of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.

The service starts at 3pm and members of the public are welcome to attend. 

Guests will include the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Lady Gretton, the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, and other dignitaries from Councils across Leicestershire and neighbouring authorities. Representatives from other charity and voluntary organisations that serve Melton Mowbray and the wider rural communities have been invited   A reception will be held immediately afterwards in the church.
