Melton Borough Council wants your design winners!

Published Thursday, 26th July 2018 Waltham public house conversion

What do you think is the best designed recent development in the Melton Borough?

Much needed new development can enhance local places if it is designed well. With over 6000 new homes planned for the Borough over the next 15 years  or so, council planners want to know what residents think are good examples of development design in Melton Borough, and why.

By sending in a photo of a recent development and telling us briefly what you think makes it a good design, you will have the chance to win £50 of High Street Vouchers, or £25 worth of vouchers if you are one of two runners-up.

Any type of development can be entered, so long as it is within Melton Borough. It may be as small as an extension to an existing property or as large as a housing estate or industrial building, and can include conversions and redevelopments.

Entries can be made by emailing Planningpolicy@melton.gov.uk with your name and address, a photo of the development, and up to 250 words saying what it is that makes it well designed, and where it is.

The closing date for entries is Friday 31st August 2018.

Entries will be judged in early September by a Panel comprising Councillor Margaret Glancy, Chair of the council’s Local Plan Working Group, Jim Worley, the Assistant Director for Strategic Planning & Regulatory Services, and one of the council’s Planning Officers. Winners will be notified shortly after.

Entries to this completion may be featured in a Design of Development Supplementary Planning Document and associated publicity. The council is preparing this so that people know what the council expects when they submit plans for new development to theml for approval.

If you are unable to submit your entry electronically, you can post it to: Planning Policy Team, Melton Borough Council, Parkside, Burton Street, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1GH.
