The Melton Community Lottery has celebrated numerous winners, including its second £2,000 winner in as many months.

Congratulations Mrs Penny Richards who matched 5 numbers correctly to win £2000.

Alan Pearson, Chairman of the People Committee said “What wonderful news for Mrs Richards and also fantastic publicity for the Melton Community Lottery. The lottery supports 39 local good causes including disability groups, animal charities, sports clubs, theatre groups and schools and the more people that know about it and support it, the more money goes to these valuable groups which greatly enhance our community. The odds of winning on the Melton Community Lottery also greatly outweigh those of the National Lottery and it’s much cheaper to play so with it also directly benefitting the local community it really is worth buying a ticket.”

Under the scheme, 60p in every pound goes directly to supporting local good causes and the remaining costs go towards the running costs and prize fund. You can choose to either support a favourite local cause or alternatively support the general good cause fund, which is administered by Melton Borough Council and provides vital support to a wide range of local organisations.

Mrs Richards said: “What a lovely surprise, I didn’t know I had won until I received an email confirming. It is the most I have won in my entire life. I have played every week since the Melton Community Lottery started over 18months ago, as it is good that money supports local good causes. I will be using the winnings to go on holiday! Join the Melton Community Lottery and you could win like me!”
