Coronavirus Council Updates

Have your say and help the Council get on the right track …

Published Monday, 13th January 2014

Over the coming months, Melton Borough Council needs to know what is important to the people of Melton whilst it reviews its priorities and sets its budget!

The Council wants to be sure it is meeting the needs of the people it serves and making the best use of its budgets and staff.  These are difficult times for everyone and this means it is even more important that the Council delivers the services people need within the budgets that are available.

At the same time, the Council is looking for the public’s opinion on the way it consults.  New arrangements have been drafted and the Council needs to know if they work for the people they consult.

For everyone to make their views known, there is an online questionnaire on the Council’s website at or you can request a hard copy from Customer Services by ringing 01664 502502.

Councillor Byron Rhodes, Leader of the Council, said: ‘These are difficult financial times and the views of our residents and customers are vital to Councillors to help us make decisions on how to allocate the Council’s budget according to what is most important to local people.  We will be looking at your feedback over the coming weeks and when we know what is most important to you, Councillors will have to make decisions based on this and other relevant information.

We are also asking people to tell us what they think of our new consultation arrangements so that we know how you like to be consulted and whether we are on the right track.

I would like to encourage everyone in the Borough to get involved and let us know what they think.’

The closing date for responses is Friday 14 March 2014. The public’s  views will be looked at with other information and feedback from this survey and what decisions were made will be available on the Council's website by Friday 25 April 2014.
