.

Following the previous leaseholders vacating the Country Park Visitor Centre, Melton Borough Council has been working to ensure the café and associated toilets remain open in the short term to continue to provide a much needed facility for users of the park.

Agreement has been reached to enable Melton Borough Council to enter into a licence agreement with Melton Space to ensure ongoing provision over the next six months.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Joe Orson said: “The Country Park is a beautiful green space in the heart of Melton that is well loved and used by families, walkers and runners alike. We are delighted to be able to confirm that Melton Space will be occupying the Country Park Visitor Centre over the next six months to ensure users of the park have access to a quality facility.”

Melton Space have been using the Visitor Centre for several months as a base for their community workshops alongside the previous leaseholders.

During the coming six month period, Melton Borough Council will looking for a long term partner to take over the running of the site and will be offering the use of the visitor centre to the open market. Bids will be invited to ensure the café and wider facilities are maintained and open to users over the long term. Bids will be welcome from all parties whether from public or private sector and community interest groups.

The Council has committed to ensuring that the Country Park toilets will also be open from 9-5pm each day over the coming six months.

More information about this bidding process will be released over the next few weeks so please keep an eye on the Council’s website and social media channels if you are interested in finding out more.
