Melton Borough Council welcomes your views on our new Draft Equality Scheme and Equality Objectives 2020-2024Published Tuesday, 10th September 2019
Melton Borough Council has commenced on a four week consultation process with residents and employees to help shape their new Equality Scheme and Equality Objectives.
We are seeking your views as the current Equality Scheme comes to an end in 2020 and we need to update it to reflect our priorities for the next four year period. The Equality Scheme includes information on the Council’s aims and objectives; moral and legal duties; governance and performance management arrangements together with its vision & values.
The Council also has a legal duty to produce one or more Equality Objectives every four years which helps us deliver our equality priorities. Four Equality Objectives have been identified for the period 2020 to 2024. Each Objective has a number of actions (including a number of legal requirements) which have been identified as important at Melton.
Cllr Alison Freer-Jones, portfolio holder for Corporate Governance, Access and Engagement said: “ Melton Borough Council’s new draft Equality Scheme sets out what we will do over the next four years to make Melton as inclusive as possible, a place where people treat each other with fairness, dignity and respect. As an authority we want to ensure that these values are embedded within the hearts and minds of our workforce, partners and the communities we serve.”
As well as seeking people’s views on the Equality Scheme we would also appreciate your comments to help shape the new Equality Objectives. Your feedback will be used alongside other considerations such as what the Council needs to provide legally and what they have identified as priorities.
The closing date for responses is Tuesday 8th October 2019.
