Review of polling stations for Parliamentary elections in the Melton district underwayPublished Monday, 23rd September 2019
Melton Borough Council is conducting the review which is required by law to take place every five years.
Each polling station serves a clearly-defined polling district and these are also being looked at. The Council has now started a public consultation which runs until Friday 25th October 2019.
Any elector or organisation within the Borough of Melton can provide feedback. They can, for example, give their views on existing polling stations and districts and suggest alternatives. The Council would particularly like to hear from any person or group with experience or expertise on access for people with a disability.
After the consultation ends, the Council will assess the responses to see if there is a need to make changes to existing polling stations.
The Acting Returning Officer will make recommendations on any changes by Monday 4th November 2019 which will be subject to further consultation until Friday 30th November 2019. A meeting of Council will decide upon the recommendations of the Acting Returning Officer on 11th December 2019. Any changes would take effect at any election held after that date.
Edd de Coverly, the Acting Returning Officer, said: “Many of our polling stations are at long-established locations and a lot of people will be familiar with them. We are however always keen to hear views and suggestions for how these could be improved and will do whatever we can to encourage people to turn out and vote on election day. If anyone has any views please do feed them in.”

Feedback should be submitted to the Council’s Electoral Services team by email to email@example.com.
Alternatively, comments can be sent by letter to Electoral Services, Melton Borough Council, Parkside, Station Approach, Burton Street, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, LE13 1GH.
