Mayor’s Carols by Candlelight Service

Published Tuesday, 26th November 2019

The Mayor’s annual Carols by Candlelight Service will be taking place on Thursday 5 December 2019 at 6.30pm in St. Mary’s Parish Church, Melton Mowbray.

This is an event which welcomes the whole community with many local clubs organisations being represented.

Children from Croxton Kerrial C.E. Primary School, St Peter’s C.E. Primary School Wymondham, Buckminster Primary School and Brooksby Melton College will be performing a selection of carols and seasonal music all in the beautiful candlelit church.  The congregation will also enjoy music from the Church Choir.

The service will be led by the Reverend Kevin Ashby with support from the Church’s Musical Director, Mr James Gutteridge.

The Mayor, Councillor Mr Malise Graham , said:  “We are so lucky in Melton to have the wonderful Church of St. Mary’s to hold our traditional Mayor’s Candlelit Carol Service, which is always a magical occasion with carols that we all know so well. I am especially pleased that this year, in addition to The Neon Glee Musical Theatre students from Brooksby Melton College, we have children from three small, local, rural, primary schools who will bring their infectious enthusiasm to help us get into the Christmas spirit."
