Melton Borough Council’s response to Leicester’s coronavirus restrictionsPublished Tuesday, 30th June 2020
Last night the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock announced that Leicester and its outlying areas will continue to follow increased restrictions for at least two weeks due to an increase in coronavirus cases.
Melton Borough is not within the increased restrictions area however we must remain vigilant at all times and continue to follow government guidance to help control the virus.
Leader of the Council Cllr Joe Orson said: “It is vital that everyone adheres to the government public health guidance in order to control the virus. You must get tested if you display any symptoms, practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands for at least 20 seconds before and after you leave the house and throughout the day, use hand sanitiser if available, maintain your social distancing, wear a face covering where required and self isolate if you have symptoms. We understand that there are many questions and concerns right now, we are reviewing our preparations for this Saturday and working with partners to help keep people safe and we will keep people updated as and when we receive more details.”
A map of the area affected by the restrictions in place is shown below. To find out more about which areas are effected you can use Leicestershire County Council's Lockdown Postcode Checker.
