Silver Award for Excellence in Social InclusionPublished Thursday, 9th October 2014
We are delighted to have received a silver award at the prestigious Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation (IRRV) Performance Awards.
The Council received the award for Excellence in Social Inclusion. The awards panel were looking for organisations to demonstrate they have excelled in the areas of social exclusion, evidencing leading edge approaches to the delivery of social inclusion policies which have improved the life of those experiencing poverty or deprivation.
Staff have worked hard with partners to develop an integrated approach to reducing social inclusion through organising services around the customer and putting individuals and families first. The focus and culture of the Council has shifted to identifying and tackling the root causes of problems and investing in early interventions. This approach focuses on problem solving to help people achieve improvements and better outcomes in their lives.
My and My Learning Centre based at Phoenix House is one of the successful projects that has contributed to the success.
The winners of the awards were announced during the IRRV Annual Conference on Wednesday 8th October at the Telford International Centre. The award ceremony was hosted by Eve Pollard OBE, journalist and media commentator.
Cllr Byron Rhodes, Leader of the Council said
“Delivering on social inclusion is an important element of the work Melton Borough Council does. It is a project that has rewards and life changing outcomes, not only for individuals and families but also the wider community. I would like to congratulate the staff and the partners they are working with for making this a success which is recognised though achieving this silver award. Well done”
