Young Mayor 2014 Election - Results

Tara Dudhia aged 15, was elected as the eighth Young Mayor 4 Melton and Rebecca Smedley aged 17, was elected as Deputy Young Mayor on Wednesday 12th November 2014.

Tara attends John Ferneley College and received 128 votes.

Amongst Tara’s key manifesto promises are for young people to achieve greater independence through cheaper travel, increased exam support and activities on the weekends and during the summer holidays. Tara says that she lives by the quote “Be the change you wish to see in the world,” and is now looking forward to her chance to truly change things for the better for the younger generation of Melton.

225 votes were cast online by young people from across Melton’s Borough. Pupils from Long Field Academy, John Ferneley College, Belvoir High, MV16, Melton Learning Hub, Melton Training Centre, Birchwood, Brooksby College and Rutland County College took part in the voting.
