Christmas kicks off to a flying start in Melton Mowbray this weekend with the biggest weekend of fun-packed entertainment the town has ever seen.

Melton Borough Council, The Melton BID, Melton Mowbray Town Estate and Event Organisers have clubbed together to create a co-ordinated event package for maximum impact to encourage residents and visitors to flock to the High Street.

The star attraction is a human SNOWGLOBE which comes equipped with a snow machine and Christmas backdrop to create unique photo opportunities …… you just download your photo when you get home !!! - check out Facebook/meltonBC for guest appearances in the Globe from two famous ice princesses.

The stage will be host to a huge array of local schools, bands and artists over the three days with over 30 acts in all to entertain shoppers throughout the weekend. X-Factor’s Lauren Lovejoy, The Good Guys Orchestra, The Rutland Big Band and over 18 school performances are amongst just a few of the stage acts.

This Christmas bonanza starts with the Christmas Lights Switch on event, where Snow White’s Wicked Queen, alias Lucinda Rhodes, will switch on the lights with the Mayor of Melton, Cllr John Wyatt. Switch On will be followed by an awe inspiring firework display and fantastic local talent performing on the stage to 8.00pm !

This year Santa’s Elves have been busy creating a new Grotto for their Boss which will be a permanent fixture throughout December in Melton’s Market Place. Back by popular demand are Santa’s loyal reindeer and the big man himself will be transported to his new Grotto by Melton’s local Trumpton.

Saturday sees the return of Small Business Saturday with big bands, free parking, Santa & the Globe being just a few of the added attractions

There will be a Christmas Market on Friday & Saturday before the town steps back in time on the Sunday to welcome over 140 Victorian traders for the Victorian Christmas Fayre.
