Published Monday, 22nd June 2015

We are delighted to announce that Councillor Simon Lumley the Deputy Mayor of Melton will be presenting prizes to the Melton allotment holders.

The Champion Allotment Posnett Spade, the Melton and District Allotment and Garden Association Runner Up Spade and the Cllr Holmes Best Newcomer Plate (1st July 2013 onwards) will be hotly contested and prize vouchers awarded (redeemable at the Melton and District Allotment and Garden Association Trade Hut off Thorpe Road).

The confirmed judges will be Councillor Pru Chandler, Malcolm Johnson and Barry Cook of the  Melton and District Allotment and Gardening Society, Marie Walters of Melton in Bloom.

All 4 Melton Borough Council run sites are included; Lake Terrace, Redwood Avenue, Doctors Lane and the Crescent. There are two self managed sites and we are delighted that the Victoria Street allotments are participating. All entries will be anonymous. This is an exciting opportunity for allotment holders to receive recognition for all their hard work.

Winners will be announced for the various prizes at a reception, to which all allotment holders are invited, at 6.00pm on the 1st July 2015 at Parkside. Winners will also be announced in the Melton Times.

If you are interested in having an allotment please contact Gerald Royston who will be delighted to show you any that are currently available.
