Draft Housing Allocations Policy consultation

We are reviewing our Choice Based Lettings and Housing Allocations Policy and would like to hear your views.

Housing allocation policies determine who can join the housing register for social housing and determine the level of priority which will be awarded based on an applicant’s circumstances. We have updated our policy to reflect local housing need and current legislation enabling us to allocate the limited amount of social housing in the fairest way possible.

Whilst the Draft Choice Based Lettings and Housing Allocations Policy has had a number of minor changes, there are three key changes to the policy which apply to:

  • Changes to how we prioritise homeless applicants
  • Options to ensure the housing register can better meet local housing demand
  • Reasonable preference for Armed Forces personnel and their families

The consultation opens on 13 January 2022 and runs for 6 weeks before closing on 25 February 2022.
