Local sheltered housing schemes

There are a number of local sheltered housing schemes in the borough 

Granby House, Greenslade, Melton Mowbray

Granby House, Greenslade, Melton Mowbray is located in the town centre close to local shops and GP Surgery. It consists of 28 studio flats (with own bathrooms and showers) suitable for single people   and two flats suitable for couples.

The scheme is linked to a two-way communication system with the Supporting People Officer on site between the hours of 8am and  4pm (Monday to Friday) and our control center for out of hours emergencies.

Daily contact is made with residents to check on their wellbeing and visits are arranged for the more vulnerable residents. There is a communal lounge where residents can meet for social activities and coffee mornings, a lift, laundry room and one guest room.

Bradgate Flats, Asfordby, Bradgate Lane, Asfordby and Burnaby Place, Asfordby

Bradgate Flats, Asfordby,  Melton Mowbray is located in the village of Asfordby just outside  Melton Mowbray  and is close to local shops and GP Surgery. It comprises 20 one bedroom flats and one two bedroom flat. All flats are self-contained, but there is a communal level access shower and assisted bathing for those with mobility issues.

There are also 10 one-bedroom bungalows close by at Bradgate Lane and 20 one-bedroom bungalows, 13 two-bedroom bungalows, and 2 one-bedroom ground floor flats and 2 two-bedroom first floor flats at Burnaby Place.

St John’s Court, Melton Mowbray

St John’s Court is located in the town centre of Melton Mowbray and is close to local shops and GP Surgery.

The scheme has 70 flats, composed of one and two-bedroom flats on three floors. 

Contact from the Supporting People Officer or a floating support officer is made dependent on the residents needs.

All flats are linked to a two way communication system between the resident and our control centre with a point of call in all rooms, so any emergencies can be reported 24 hours a day. 

There is a communal lounge where residents can meet for social activities and coffee mornings, a lift, laundry room and one guest room.  Please note there is no lift at this scheme to access first and second floor flats  

Frail & Elderly Scheme – Gretton Court

Gretton Court, Egerton View, Melton Mowbray is a frail and elderly extra care scheme which is operated by Melton Borough Council for elderly people who wish to remain independent and live in a secure community.

The scheme is linked to a two-way communication system with staff on duty 24 hours a day 7 days a week for on-site care and support. To be eligible for this scheme residents need to be assessed by adult social care as needing a minimum of 3 hours care per week and need to apply to Melton Borough Council to join the housing register.

Daily contact is made with residents to check on their well-being and visits are arranged for the more vulnerable residents. The scheme comprises 43 self-contained flats with their own kitchen, cloakroom with WC and hand wash basin.

To meet the needs of assisted bathing the specialist bathing and showering facilities are shared.

  • On site there is a  laundry room, communal lounge with large garden and seating area.
  • A midday meal is provided on a daily basis in the communal dining area.
  • Various social events  take place at the scheme including carpet bowls, film shows, church services, bingo and coffee mornings. 
Wilton Court, Egerton View, Melton Mowbray

Wilton Court on Egerton View, Melton Mowbray is located close to the  town centre. It consists of 12 bed-sits with own kitchen, toilet and wash basin and 10 one-bedroom flats with all facilities

The scheme is linked to a two-way communication system with our control centre who deal with all emergencies and staff are on site on designated hours Monday – Friday. Additional support is provided by staff based at Gretton Court from 8am – 9pm Monday to Sunday
