Government Business Grants

Business Support Grants (Covid-19)

There have been a significant amount of grant schemes made available to businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

These schemes are intended to support businesses meet their day to day costs, or in some instances, loss of turnover. These are not intended to be for supplementing loss of individual income.

Grant schemes open from April 2021 onwards:

  • Restart Grant Scheme

Please be aware that all the grant schemes have varying eligibility and criteria so you may not be entitled to funding from all, if any, of them.

Businesses can check all the support that they may be eligible for on the government website.

Restart Grant Scheme

The Restart Grant scheme aims to support businesses that offer in-person services, where the main service and activity takes place in a fixed rate-paying premises, in the relevant sectors.

You will need to apply for this grant scheme to receive any funding you are eligible for, even if you have applied for grant schemes previously. We will continue to update the information on our Business Support Hub as more details are received.

Check if you are eligible for the Restart Grant Scheme.

Please note: Local Authorities are required to undertake prepayment checks for all Restart Grant payments. This is a stricter position than that taken for previous COVID-19 business support grant schemes. These checks are required to be undertaken before any payments are issued to businesses. We are also required to collect information from businesses receiving these grant payments to enable appropriate post payment assurance checks to be undertaken (as per Paragraph 8 in Annex A of the Restart Grant Guidance for Local Authorities). In addition, applicants are advised that they may be contacted for research purposes, and that their data will be shared with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for research and evaluation purposes.
