TFEC (Tenants Forum Executive Committee) is made up of tenants from across the borough and meets on a regular basis to discuss housing issues that affect all tenants. Since September 2020, meetings have been held with Melton Borough Council Officers only, however John Skerritt, Chair of Tenants Forum Executive Committee, is pleased to invite Melton Borough Council tenants and leaseholders to join their first open Formal Meeting, since Lockdown#1, March 2020.  The Committee will be discussing matters affecting your tenancy, home and leaseholder issues, with Melton Borough Council Officers.

Monday 19th July 2021 at 12noon

You will find us in Council Chambers 1&2, Melton Borough Council offices

You can also join the meeting through Zoom.  The joining details are available from the Tenancy Services Team please email Housingconsultation@melton.gov.uk, should you prefer to join virtually

TFEC members look forward to meeting you - the agenda is available below

TFEC are delighted to see the release of the White Paper that aims to empower the tenant voice, reinforce the regulator's remit and strengthen consumer regulation.  TFEC place tenant and leaseholder engagement at the very centre of getting stuff right. So it’s pleasing to see culture featuring so strongly in this new paper. We’re looking forward to working with Melton Borough Council’s housing service to unlock the powers set out in the White Paper.

It is recognised as part of paper the landlords responsibilities and duties giving consideration to:

· Being safe in your home

· Performance around landlord measures

· Complaint management

· Respect – removing stigma that was once associated with being a council tenant for example

· Voice heard by your Landlord – this will only develop and strengthen the TFEC voice

· A good quality home and neighbourhood – I will be working very closely with Jodie and Julie to monitor this item to scrutinise delivery of what tenants should receive

· Ownership – setting foundations for secure tenants to be given the opportunity to purchase their own home  - importantly then allowing MBC to acquire properties accordingly

TFEC is excited to work with MBC and raise the standards of social housing to meet the targets set out. We are a committed group to our tenants and leaseholders to ensure that this is delivered.

TFEC can still be contacted through our Facebook page, email tfec.melton2018@gmail.com, or contact TFEC on 01664 502373.
