Purpose of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the Melton Borough Council Revenues team.

The vacancy is for a part time Sundry Debt Income Recovery Officer who will assist the Revenues team in provide a comprehensive, high quality service in the demand, collection and recovery of the Council’s Sundry Debts including Housing Benefit overpayments working in close partnership with internal colleagues to maximise collection. Previous experience in a similar role would be preferable but not essential as we will provide full training and support.

You will need to have a high level of discretion and confidentiality as well as excellent communication skills to be able to deal with complex information and respond to customer queries in a polite and sensitive way. 

We work in an agile and flexible way which means you can split your week between working from home and being in the office. 

About you

Ideally you will have some previous experience in a Revenues or Benefits team although this is not essential.  You will however need to have great ICT skills with experience of using the full Microsoft suite of applications as well as being confident in picking up new, bespoke ICT systems.  As a customer focused service, customer service skills are essential to ensure our team are supporting people in our community who most need our help.
