Important Information

The Council recognises the rapidly evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is causing uncertainty and we appreciate your understanding at this challenging time as we endeavour to maintain services whilst protecting our staff and residents.

Please note, in light of the recent outbreak, the Council's ability to continue to deliver some services to the standards you would normally receive may be affected.  This is because the Council is having to divert resources to critical areas and this means if your query is not urgent we may not be able provide you with a response within the prescribed timescales.**

Choice Based Lettings – Melton Borough Council is currently reviewing its Housing Register 

Our Housing Register will be closed to new applications as from Monday 1st June 2020. 

If you made a new application prior to this date then your application has been placed on hold. 

If you already have an active application and have requested a review, this is now on hold.

Vacant Properties – Melton Borough Council will continue to advertise vacant properties in the Borough from some of our Registered Providers however its own properties may not be advertised due to the current pandemic.

Please note, Melton Borough Council offices are now closed to the public, but you can still contact us by logging into your CBL account or by sending a message through the website which can be accessed here:Melton Homes website.

** For emergencies (if you are homeless or threatened with homelessness) please do not complete an application through Choice Based Lettings (CBL).  For emergency assistance please contact the Council 01664 502502.     



Due to the low supply and high demand for council housing, please consider private renting as an alternative option.

 The application process

  • Once we have received your completed housing application form with relevant proofs and decided you are eligible to go onto the housing register, we will place you in one of four need bands depending on your current housing circumstances.
  • We will write to you letting you know which band you have been placed in as well as the date and reason for the band placement.
