Crisis Resilience Fund Housing Payments

Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) Housing Payments are short term awards for people in extreme financial hardship to help with pay housing costs (for example, rent, moving costs, rent deposits and rent in advance). They are paid by us in addition to any housing benefit or Universal Credit you receive. Please note this fund has replaced Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP) from 1st April 2026.

In order to qualify you must;

  • be in receipt of housing benefit or
  • be entitled to the housing element in the assessment of your Universal Credit award.

 You can make an application for a CRF Housing Payment online, below.

Additional financial support

Please note if you receive a lower income and need short-term emergency financial support to help you deal with an unexpected financial crisis that leaves you unable to meet basic essential needs such as food, fuel or other necessities, you can apply to a separate fund administered by Leicestershire County Council.
