Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers
All non-domestic premises with cooling towers or evaporative condensers are required by law to register these systems with Melton Borough Council.
Why Registration is Important
Registration helps us:
- Monitor Potential Risks: Cooling towers and evaporative condensers can pose a risk for the spread of infectious diseases, such as Legionnaires’ disease, caused by the bacteria Legionella pneumophila.
- Ensure Preventative Measures: By maintaining an accurate record, we can work with premises to ensure that proper maintenance and control measures are in place to protect employees, residents, and the public.
Public Register
We maintain a public register of all cooling towers and evaporative condensers within the borough. This register helps promote transparency and assists in the management of health and safety risks.
