Hypnotism permit

You must have authorisation from us if you wish to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public. You must comply with any conditions that we apply.

Applications should be submitted at least 28 days before the performance, otherwise the application may not be determined in time.

You need to comply with the Hypnotism Act 1952 (as amended). This requires that you obtain a permit from the licensing authority if you are giving an exhibition, demonstration or performance of hypnotism: 

• on any person
• or in connection with entertainment to which the public are admitted, whether by payment or otherwise. 

A separate application must be made by the person who will be carrying out the act of hypnotism for each premises/venue they intend to be used.
