Licensing public registers
Melton Borough Council has a legal duty to make certain information available to the public in public registers.
Taxi licences
Vehicles, drivers and operators must be licensed to operate 'Taxi services' in the area. This includes:
- Vehicles that can be hailed in the street and limited to charging what is shown on the meter (Hackney carriages)
- Vehicles that must be pre-booked to pick up passengers and charge the rate agreed by the operator and customer in advance (private hire vehicles)

Charitable collections

Animal licences
We publish a register of licensed:
- Businesses who keep or train animals for exhibition for educational or entertainment to an audience
- Dangerous wild animals in our borough. This list does not include Zoos, circus, pet shops or places registered under the Cruelty to Animals Act 1876 for the purpose of performing experiments
- Zoos: please note, we currently do not have any zoos registered in the Melton Borough area
- Businesses or individuals who provide boarding for cats, boarding, home boarding or day care for dogs (Animal welfare licence register)
- Businesses or individuals who hire out horses for riding or provide instruction in riding (Animal welfare licence register)
- Businesses or individuals who sell animals as pets (Animal welfare licence register)
- Businesses or individuals who breed and sell dogs - you must breed three or more litters of puppies in any 12-month period or breed dogs and advertise a business of selling dogs (Animal welfare licence register)

Alcohol and entertainment licences
Alcohol and entertainment licences are applied to individuals and premises:
- Any person who is a designated premises supervisor at a premises or premises that carries out activities under the Licensing Act 2003 must have a personal licence
- Any premises that sell alcohol, has regulated entertainment, or sell food and drink late night must have a premises licence or a temporary event notice

Treatment registrations
Businesses that offer invasive or non-invasive treatments need to be registered to operate. This includes:
- Individuals and premises who carry out invasive treatment that pierce the skin. For example, tattooing, acupuncture, piercings, microblading and electrolysis

The majority of camping and caravan sites require a licence to operate. This includes:

- Residential caravan sites
