Recycle your textiles

When your clothes or textile products are old or unwanted you can recycle them.

Textiles in a good condition

If your items are in good condition, you could donate them or sell them on. Most charity shops will accept donations of clothes, shoes and accessories. There are also many online platforms where you can sell pre-loved clothes.

Textiles that can no longer be used

Clothes and textiles which are not in a good condition and can no longer be used can still be recycled - the fabric is cut into strips and used to make something else, such as industrial rags or sometimes new items of clothing.

We can collect your used textiles and fabrics, such as clothes, blankets or towels with your usual waste or recycling collections.

Place items in a standard size carrier bag. Do not mix electrical items and textiles, please place them in separate bags. Place the bags at the side of your bin, not in it, on the day of your collection.

We will collect:

  • all kinds of clothing
  • curtains
  • bed sheets
  • blankets
  • towels

We will not collect:

  • duvets
  • pillows
  • cushions
  • shoes
  • rugs
  • carpet

Due to limited capacity, your items may not be collected. If you're items aren't collected, please put them out again the following week, and we’ll do our best to collect them.
