The Leader

Councillor Pip Allnatt was confirmed as the Leader of Melton Borough Council at the Annual Council meeting on Wednesday, 24 May 2023. 

He currently represents the Melton Egerton ward. 

He first joined the Labour party in 1965. He has a breadth of experience in Local Government, having served in county councils, district councils and town council over the last 20 years, including previously serving as Leader
of the Opposition at Wiltshire County Council.

Pip was born and raised in London but has had a varied life residing in numerous places across the UK and abroad. He moved to the Borough of Melton in 2013 after becoming a widower to move closer to his daughters and grandchildren.   

Before retiring Cllr Allantt has worked in the private sector, public sector and for charities, gaining experience in multiple industries including technology, agriculture, education and the Armed Services just to name a few.

Alongside politics he has a passion for the outdoors and staying active. Throughout his life he has enjoyed working with the Woodland Trust, MS society, Sustrans (The National Cycle Network) as well as taking time to be a Scout leader and gymnastic coach.

When Cllr Allnatt is not engaging in local issues and activities, he enjoys maintaining his garden and spending time with his family, having a key role in looking after his grandchildren.
