Estate walk findings

Our estate walks are an opportunity for our teams to identify issues in our neighbourhoods, by walking round the area and chatting to those who live there. 

We wanted to let you know what we found at the walks and what we did about it.

Below is a table to show the details from the walks:

Queensway estate walk - 7 May 2025 

Location  Issues identified and action taken
Barker Crescent 
  • Debris on road side and pathways - reported to Biffa and has been swept.
  • A grass verge has been damaged and requires levelling - reported to Leicestershire County Council 
  • Untidy telephone wire cables - reported to Openreach.
  • 1 fly tip - reported to Biffa and has been cleaered.
  • 7 untidy gardens - Investigations raised to Tenancy Services and Safer Communities team

Blakeney Crescent 

  • Street cleansing of paths required - reported to Biffa and cleansing carried out
  • Faded street sign - to be reviewed by Tenancy services
  • Cars parking on grass verge - Letters issued to residents and issue now resolved.  
  • Possible abandoned vehicle - Investigated by Safer Communities team and car has been removed   
  • Unsightly power grid shed - National Grid to review
  • 1 fly tip - reported to Biffa and waste removed
  • 3 untidy gardens - investigations raised to Tenancy Services and Safer Communities
Brownlow Crescent 
  • Garage site requires clean up of rubbish fly tipped and weeds. Including repairs to some of the doors to make them safe. - Reported to Biffa
  • Bin damaged, requires replacing - Waste and Environmental services have replaced this.
  • 1 untidy garden - investigated by Safer Communities 
  • Damage to park fencing, wood to be collected - Reported to Biffa and waste removed.
  • Play park sign wording to be reviewed and replaced if necessary - Safer Communities team reviewing signage 
Dalby Road
  • Bus stop damaged including seating - reported to Leicestershire County Council
  • Drain blocked up - reported to Repairs
Hartopp Road
  • Kerb identified as being damaged and causing a tripping hazard. Reported to Leicestershire County Council and kerb has been repaired.
  • Self-seeding plant has grown on green area, requires removing - reported to Waste and Environmental Services
  • 2 x untidy gardens - investigations concluded
  • Repair to guttering and downpipe required - Reported to repairs
  • 1 fly tip - Reported to Biffa and waste removed

Meynell Close

  • Unsafe structure identified within garden - Tenancy Services to investigate further
  • Self-seeding plant requires removal - Reported to Waste and Environmental Services 
  • 1 fly tip - Reported to Biffa and waste removed 
  • Tripping hazard on pathway near 12a - Reported to Leicestershire County Council and hazard has been repaired.
  • 1 concern for tenant raised - Tenancy Services investigating further 
  • 2 reports of Anti-social behaviour -  Safer Communities team investigated 
Princess Drive

Reported lorry obstruction - Safer Communities team investigated and Lorry no longer in the area

Queensway 1 untidy garden - Investigated by Safer Communities team
