Are you passionate about supporting people to live independently, safely and confidently in their own homes?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Independent Living Co-ordinator to join our team and play a vital role in delivering our Independent Living Service. This is much more than a housing role. It is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of older and vulnerable residents, helping them maintain their independence, wellbeing and connection to their community.

As one of the key faces of our service, you will build positive relationships with residents, provide practical support and advice, promote health and wellbeing, and ensure residents have access to the support they need to live fulfilling lives.

Why this role matters

Our Independent Living Service is a cornerstone of the support we provide to residents. The Independent Living Co-ordinator plays a crucial role in:

  • Helping residents remain independent for longer.
  • Supporting health, wellbeing and social inclusion.
  • Identifying concerns early and connecting people with the right support.
  • Reducing isolation and promoting community engagement.
  • Creating safe, welcoming and thriving independent living communities.
  • Providing reassurance and support to residents and their families.

Every conversation, visit and intervention has the potential to improve someone's quality of life and help them continue living independently within their community.

What we're looking for

We're seeking someone who:

  • Genuinely cares about people and making a positive difference.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build strong relationships with residents, colleagues and partners.
  • Is organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload.
  • Can identify issues and work collaboratively to find solutions.
  • Understands the importance of dignity, respect and customer service.
  • Shares our commitment to supporting independent living and thriving communities.

Experience of working in housing, support services, health, social care or customer-focused environments would be beneficial, but equally important is your ability to connect with people and provide outstanding support.

Why join us?

  • We offer flexible and hybrid working, built on trust. Our standard week is 37 hours, and we simply ask that service needs are met.
  • Balance matters. We encourage you to switch off and recharge, with up to 30 days’ annual leave, bank holidays, and three extra days at Christmas. You can also buy additional leave if you choose.
  • We Care is one of our core values. As a Healthy Workplace, we support your wellbeing through a range of activities and a confidential Employee Assistance Programme.
  • We help you plan for the future with the excellent Local Government Pension Scheme, financial planning workshops, career development opportunities.
  • And because family comes first, we have a strong set of family‑friendly policies.

We look forward to hearing from you if you are looking for the chance to work for a forward-thinking Council and make a real difference to the people of Melton and surrounding area.
