The Let’s Get Moving Melton Awards return for another inspiring year

Individuals and groups across the borough are invited to submit nominations as the Let’s Get Moving Melton Awards return for a third year.
The sport, physical activity and wellbeing awards, organised by Melton Borough Council, celebrates sporting successes and active lifestyle advocates across the Melton borough from over the past 12 months.
Nominations are now open for individuals who have made a significant contribution to sports, physical activity, and health within the community. Members of the public are invited to nominate those they feel deserve recognition for their dedication and achievements. The nomination period will remain open until Sunday 16 November.
Once nominations are closed an independent panel will review all submissions and create a shortlist of nominees, which will be posted on the Melton Sports and Health Alliance website ahead of the awards ceremony which will take place at the Banqueting Suite at the Stockyard on Friday 23 January 2026.
Councillor Sharon Butcher, Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Town Centre and Leisure, said: “The Let’s Get Moving Melton Awards is a brilliant opportunity to celebrate individuals, teams, and groups in our community who are making a real difference through sport, physical activity, and wellbeing.
“Last year we received an outstanding 274 nominations and this year we want to aim even higher. I encourage all residents to get involved and nominate someone they believe deserves recognition for their contributions and achievements.”
There are 15 awards available for both young people and adults that residents can nominate towards, which include:

Nominations for this year’s Let’s Get Moving Melton Awards can be submitted on the Melton Sports and Health Alliance website.
Emma Ansell, recipient of The Let’s Get Moving Melton Hero Award 2024 reflected on last year’s awards and is encouraging residents to get involved and nominate: “It was a great event and brilliant to see how much is going on in our borough and the evening had so many inspiring stories. Please nominate the people around you who you feel are doing good things within sport, wellbeing and fitness so we can shower a bit of magic over them!”
Over 300 people attended last year’s celebration at the Banqueting Suite, creating a brilliant atmosphere filled with community spirit, inspiring stories and performances from local groups. More information and a limited number of tickets for the awards ceremony will be available to purchase closer to the event.
