Melton Borough Council pays Tribute to The Duchess of Kent

On Friday 5th September 2025, Buckingham Palace announced the death of The Duchess of Kent.

Mayor of the Borough of Melton, Councillor Siggy Artherton, expressed her condolences to the Royal Family.

"It is with deep sadness that we mark the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent. On behalf of the residents of Melton, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family during this time of mourning.

"The Duchess of Kent was a figure of dignity and compassion, known for her dedication to public service and her support for the arts and education. Her legacy will be remembered fondly across the nation.

"As a mark of respect, the Union Flag will be flown at half-mast at our main office, Parkside, on Tuesday 16th for the day of her funeral."
