Celebrating Champions at the Let’s Get Moving Melton Awards
The 2025 Let’s Get Moving Melton Awards brought the community together for an inspiring evening of recognition and celebration.
Now in its third year, the awards continue to shine a spotlight on the individuals, teams and organisations who champion sport, physical activity, and healthy living across the borough.
Held on Friday 23 January at Stockyard Melton Mowbray, the event was hosted by Adam Whitty from BBC Radio Leicester and featured an outstanding performance by Trevonne Stage School, alongside the presentation of 15 awards.
This year’s awards attracted an impressive 118 nominations, which were carefully reviewed by the Melton Sport and Health Alliance to create a shortlist of exceptional finalists. The winners showcased a diverse range of achievements—from sporting excellence to initiatives that make physical activity accessible for everyone.
The Let’s Get Moving Outstanding Contribution Award is dedicated this year to the memory of Yvonne Makins, founder of Trevonne Stage School and previous winner of this award. Since her passing in November 2024, she has been remembered for inspiring thousands of local children over five decades and fostering a welcoming love of dance. Her passion and commitment shaped both the school and generations of young dancers, with her daughters continuing her legacy. Through countless shows and pantomimes, Yvonne’s influence reached far beyond the studio, leaving a lasting impact.
