Councillor Pip Allnatt has announced that for reasons of ill health he is stepping down as Leader of Melton Borough Council with immediate effect. He will continue to serve as a councillor for the Egerton Ward.
 
In line with the Council's Constitution, a request to hold an extraordinary council meeting to elect a new Leader has been received by the Mayor, and she has confirmed her intention to call such a meeting; the date of which will be confirmed shortly.

The Deputy Leader, Cllr Margaret Glancy, will assume the role of Acting Leader until a new Leader is elected by the Council.
