Council seeks local views on Council Vision 2036

Parkside offices

Residents, local business, community groups and other organisations are being invited to help shape the Council’s long-term plans and priorities for Melton.

The current four-year strategy ends in April 2024. Since the election in May, the council has been working to develop a new Corporate Strategy, which will help guide the focus and efforts of the council for the next 12 years.

The proposed Vision 2036 is separated into eight statements, which covers several broad themes including leisure, housing, the economy and climate change, and which will become the foundations for the new strategy. Once finalised, the vision will be supported by a more detailed 4-year Corporate Delivery Plan, which will include specific actions and be linked to the council’s annual budget and medium-term financial plan, due to be considered in February 2024.

The long-term plan will enable the council to deliver an ambitious programme that is flexible, achievable and affordable. At this formative stage, the council is encouraging everyone to share their views on the proposed vision statements.

Cllr Pip Allnatt, Leader of the Council, said: “Setting these ambitious long-term aspirations for the borough will help us to improve facilities, develop infrastructure and deliver high quality services for the people of Melton without pushing council tax too high.”

“We encourage everyone to get involved and share their feedback on our vision for 2036 and aspirations for Melton, before the consultation closes.”

The consultation is open until 11:59pm on Friday 12th January 2024.

Residents, businesses and organisations can get involved by completing the Vision 2036 survey. The most efficient way to take part is to fill out the survey online at haveyoursay.melton.gov.uk/corporate-services/vision-2036-consultation.

For those unable to complete the survey online, paper copies can be requested through the Communications and Engagement Team on 01664 502 502 or at engagement@melton.gov.uk. Completed paper consultations should be returned to Communications, Melton Borough Council Parkside Offices, Station Approach, Burton Street, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1GH before the consultation closure date.
