The Melton Inclusive Sport & Physical Activity (MISPA) Steering Group is organising a Paralympic-inspired event on Sunday 5th September.

The Para Sport Festival is being organised to celebrate the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games which are taking place between 24th August – 5th September, the event will also provide an opportunity for the community to come together and get involved in some inclusive activities.

Cllr Malise Graham, Portfolio Holder for People and Communities said: “This really fun event is a great opportunity for the community to come together after a challenging 18 months. With restrictions continuing to ease, it is important that we support residents’ physical health and mental wellbeing whilst helping to reduce the widening equality gaps caused by the pandemic.

You will not only find out about local clubs and groups who provide inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities, but also learn more about the Paralympics and disability sport in general. We encourage everyone to come along and get involved!”

There will be a wide range of activities to try on the day, including: blind football, orienteering, dance, stretch & mobility classes, tennis and lots more!

The event is free to attend and will take place on Sunday 5 September between 11:00-15:00, at Melton Town Park (Wilton Park & Play Park Close), Leicester Road, LE13 0DZ.

We will be encouraging attendees to keep socially distanced and sanitised throughout, and numbers of those taking part in activities with also be managed.
