Tenant Garden Competition
The Tenant Garden Competition is now open!
Get your gardening gloves on it's competition time. Do you spend most of your time in the garden or maybe your neighbour is a dab hand at pruning their petunias?
We are running a garden competition for our tenants, and we want to showcase the impressive gardening skills throughout the borough. Whether you want to nominate a neighbour or show off your hard work we want to see them all.
The competition is currently open to all Melton Borough Council tenants and leaseholders and will close on Friday 17 July at 5pm.
After the closing date, Melton in Bloom will judge and select the winners, who will be announced at the Garden Competition Ceremony (date to be confirmed).
Gardens can be entered or nominated for the following 8 categories:

Best community garden – awarded to a space designed to bring the community together.

Best edible garden – awarded to the best vegetable, herb or fruit patch.

Best wildlife friendly garden – awarded to the garden which is designed to attract bees, birds, hedgehogs, butterflies and other creatures (can include ponds).

Best young gardener - for those 16 years and under, please get permission from a parent/guardian.

Most creative garden design - Awarded for originality, artistic flair, or inventive design approaches, including unusual planting schemes, structures, or features.

Best small space - Awarded to a small area that makes the best use of limited space through layout, planting and design. Can include windowsills, balconies, patios and small gardens.

Most lavish lawn – awarded to the cleanest, greenest lawn.

Best overall garden – All of the winners of the categories will be judged together to award a best overall garden.
Tenants can enter more than one category, however, they can only win or come runner up in one category.

Category winners will receive gardening vouchers. The prizes are £50 for first place, £30 for runner up place for each category. The best overall garden will see one winner who will receive a £50 voucher.
All winners and runners up would also receive a certificate and an article in the tenant’s newsletter thanking everyone for their contribution.
- The deadline for the garden competition entries is 17 July at 5pm.
- You must be a tenant or leaseholder of Melton Borough Council.
- You can enter more than one category.
- The winner of each category will win a £50 voucher. The runner up of each category will receive a £30 voucher.
- By entering in the competition you are giving permission for Melton Borough Council to use your entry photo for publicity purposes.
