Purpose of the job 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Melton Borough Council Housing Services Team as a Housing Officer. This role reports directly to the Senior Housing Officer and you will take charge of a geographical patch of properties, with exciting responsibilities such as: 

Conducting tenancy reviews and audits with residents in their homes. Housing management casework including Anti-Social behaviour, domestic abuse, abandonment, and hoarding. 

Taking appropriate action regarding breaches of tenancies. 

Collaborating with the other teams to ensure appropriate action is taken to deal with breaches of tenancies related to rent arrears. 

Assisting with Court processes and representing Melton Borough Council in Court where necessary. 

Resident involvement – putting the tenant at the centre of what we do.  

We are looking for someone to support us to deliver a high-quality housing management service and who is keen to help us change and develop. We want someone with a strong focus on exceptional customer service and efficient service delivery. You will be the primary point of contact for residents, actively engaging with tenants to ensure a responsive and consistently excellent housing management experience. 


About You 

In this role we are looking for someone who is or has: 

Excellent communication skills that is, communicating clearly, confidently, and appropriately with residents, partners and colleagues using the best methods of communication. 

A knowledge and understanding of the Housing Regulator Consumer Standards. 

Able to conduct tenancy audits with residents in their homes, ensuring compliance with health and safety inspection, estate inspections with residents and stakeholders.

Can manage housing management casework including Anti-Social behaviour, domestic abuse, abandonment, and hoarding. 

Able to take appropriate action regarding breaches of tenancies. 

Has a history of using IT systems and automation successfully to enhance the delivery of housing/tenancy management. 

Can identifies the need for and promotes Resident engagement/ participation and community development initiatives. This includes attending residents' meetings.
