Melton Borough Council appoint new Mayor at the annual meeting of the Council

A new Mayor for the borough has been elected following the annual meeting of the Council on Thursday 15 May 2025. The Council appointed Councillor Siggy Atherton as the Mayor for the coming year, who announced that the Mayor’s Charities would be Pepper’s A Safe Place, and Melton Mencap. Councillor Ian Atherton will be supporting her as the Mayor's Consort.

Melton Borough Council invests in its Town Centre

Melton Borough Council as part of the UK Shared Prosperity fund has allocated funding to initiatives that aim to boost and support Melton Mowbray Town Centre. A total sum of around £140,000 across three projects has been awarded to both the Melton Mowbray Town Estate and Melton BID, who operate within the town centre and work with both local businesses and market traders.
